Summary of Job

The Director of Information Technology is a hands-on results-driven professional with demonstrated experience leading both external and internal teams and successfully managing computing resources and information technology (IT) initiatives globally across all clients, consultants and employees. This includes directing all IT operations to meet customer requirements as well as the support and maintenance of existing applications and development of new technical solutions.

He/she will serve as the senior technology resource for the organization and be responsible for all global strategic IT execution and planning. Responsibilities also include IT infrastructure, Security Operations, Webservices and supporting activities including managing a hybrid remote office of employees and consultants as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Actively manage current IT footprint and supporting: (a) the organization’s IT infrastructure, (b) IT operations and (c) security operations, and (d) web services teams and future needs as the company needs evolve. Bring new solutions to management to consider supporting future company business objectives.
  • As a director, you will be responsible for establishing culture and leading your teams to achieve your objectives in this role. You will be responsible for driving the technologies, processes, and procedures under your direct leadership, partnering with the VP of Operations, to effect meaningful change across the organization’s technology stack and technology teams.
  • Guides information and IT decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.
  • Analyzes complex business needs presented by the user community and/or clients and recommends technical solutions.
  • Ensures the consistency and maintainability of existing applications by creating, maintaining, and enforcing standards/procedures for implementing technical solutions.
  • Directs IT operations in executing production tasks according to a documented schedule that meets or exceeds expectations.
  • You will be a key contributor with data management and disaster recovery responsibilities. The role is responsible for the resiliency and recovery of IT Infrastructure including backups and disaster recovery.
  • Responsible for compliance with systems requiring specific requirements, internal control requirements, including collecting and providing information for audit inquiries from external auditors.
  • Monitors and confirms readiness of IT systems by conducting reviews and audits; providing information to external auditors if necessary.
  • Achieves budget objectives by scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions; monitors and analyzes monthly operating results corporate wide against budget.
  • Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Oversees corporate operations of the IT department; maintains a documented system of IT policies and procedures.
  • Assists management in developing business plans for the company.
  • Protects operations by keeping information and plans confidential.
  • Participates  on all hardware and software evaluations and maintains vendor contracts.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities effectively in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
  • International travel may be required.

Job Requirements and Education

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business administration, or related field

Experience:

  • Minimum of 10+ years of progressively responsible professional information technology experience including leadership experience mentoring and leading a team.
  • Current hands-on experience in managing Microsoft 365 ecosystem including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint and OneDrive, with solid understanding of security measures and ability to architect best practices and policy.
  • Working knowledge with Windows Server, Active Directory, Exchange, SAN, VMware/Hyper V, SharePoint, RAID.
  • Experience applying cybersecurity measures, such as multi-factor authentication, single sign-on (SSO), Microsoft Intune, Azure Active Directory, and other RMM and automation tools, SSL certificates, encryption & public key infrastructure (PKI).
  • Experience managing IT infrastructures and understanding of IaaS Cloud solutions; AWS or Microsoft Azure.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of DNS, networking (TCP/IP) and routing.
  • Demonstrated ability to take terminology and concepts of technology and translate that into applied technology solutions in everyday scenarios with professionalism and poise.
  • Foundational understanding of Wi-Fi networks.
  • Basic knowledge of PowerShell.
  • Recent experience as a corporate IT leader.
  • Experience in a life science service environment is preferred.

  • Approximately 10% travel is required; overnight travel required as needed.

  • Vision requirements include close vision and ability to focus.
  • Noise conditions range from quiet to moderate – home office conditions variable.

Salary Range: $190,000 – $213,000
